The Himel Soft Starter Expert Series (HASXS) gently ramps voltage to a motor at start-up instead of switching it straight across the line. That controlled ramp cuts starting current, reduces mechanical stress and — on pumps — tames the water hammer that comes with abrupt starts and stops.
Where full variable-speed control isn't needed but a direct-on-line start is too harsh, a soft starter is the right, lower-cost answer. It protects belts, couplings, gearboxes and pipework, and eases the load on the supply.
